Appendix C. Regional subsets of our data used for SAR slope comparisons.

We compared species-area slopes between islands and continents in the Neotropics, in East Africa, and in the tropical Indo-Pacific. These areas were selected from the global data set to yield regional samples within which islands and continental areas had similar temperature and precipitation. Locations of the sites included in the comparison are shown in the map below, followed by the climatic means and medians for the islands and the continental samples in each region.
