Appendix C (FIG. C1). Raw data showing trends for biomass of (1) E. matheai, (2) the six sea urchins in PC factor 3, and (3) total fish plotted against CCA percent cover. Black dots and solid lines are for fished reefs and open circles and dashed lines are for fisheries closures. Trends are similar to those shown in Fig. 2, with the exception of the six sea urchins from PC factor 3. The lack of a trend in CCA with these six sea urchins is because this approach (plotting raw data) does not incorporate variability in CCA cover accounted for by the other independent variables. Consequently, a PCA with multiple regression and plotting of CCA partial residuals from the multiple regression in Fig. 2 was used.
